Your Work of Art creation is made from 100% silk.
To keep your veil or skirt in the best condition possible, treat it with care.
To store your silk veil when not in use, fold and wrap in acid-free tissue paper and store in a cool, dry place. Another option is to fold up your veil and place it in an acid-free archive box, which are found at most craft stores.
I recommend not hanging your skirts when you store them, as it puts stress on the fabric and seams. I find neatly folding them and storing them in a drawer or archive box works best.
If necessary, your skirt or veil can be hand-washed in cool water or on the gentle cycle in your washing machine. Be sure to use a delicate detergent, and rinse well.
Work Of Art silks are colorfast. Any color that comes out in the wash is leftover from the dyeing process, not from the skirt or veil itself. I wash the veils and skirts several times before I ship but some colors, especially turquoise, require even more rinsing to remove all the color. I recommend you wash your silk skirt or veil separately to prevent color bleeds on your other garments. To dry, you can use the cool cycle in the dryer, but don’t use any dryer sheets as they have a tendency to stain the silk. I prefer to iron the veils and skirts while they are still damp, as it keeps wrinkles from setting. The steam from ironing process returns the sheen to your garment.
Static is a common occurrence with silk veils and skirts. To help reduce static, first try lightly misting your veil or skirt with water and dance with it a bit. If this does not eliminate the static cling, you can try a Static Guard spray with a very fine mist. Don’t overspray-it could stain your veil!
Please be advised, these care instructions are meant for my creations, not for all silks. If you have any questions about the care of your silk, feel free to email me at katrina@workofartcreations.com and I will answer any questions you have.
